Instructions
When switching your bird to a new food, it's important to do so gradually over several days. If your canary already has a seed-based diet, for a few days mix some of the old food with Beaphar XtraVital Canarios to get him used to his new food. Some canaries do not need a period of change and will easily accept the new food. However, if you are switching your canary from a pellet diet to a seed-based diet, it may be necessary to keep mixing with its previous food for several weeks to ensure that the bird accepts the new style of food. If you're not sure how to do this, follow the transition program below as a guide.
The daily amount of Beaphar XtraVital Canario that you should administer depends on the size of the bird, its activity level, its habitat, temperature and weather conditions. The information below is a guide, so you may need to adjust feed amounts to your canary's needs.
Using the supplied measuring scoop, supply 1 scoop (5 g) of Beaphar XtraVital Canario per day.
Regularly check your bird's weight to make sure it's feeding enough.
Transition programme
First week: Feed about 25% Beaphar XtraVital mixed with about 75% of your current seed-based meal.
Second week: Feed about 50% Beaphar XtraVital mixed with about 50% of your current seed-based meal.
Third week: Feed about 75% of Beaphar XtraVital mixed with about 25% of your existing seed-based feed.
Fourth week: If your bird is happily eating Beaphar XtraVital, then you can stop mixing your existing seed-based food. For some birds, it may be necessary to continue the transition process for longer.
Always have fresh water at your disposal.
